The building Weena 750 (formerly also known as tower building Bouwcentrum and as Weenapoint) is iconic for arriving travellers from Central Station. The original building was designed by Eijkelenboom en Middelhoek (now EGM). The structural design was made by Aronsohn Constructions, just as the surrounding buildings of the former Bouwcentrum. On the other side of Kruisplein in the Calypso building where Aronsohn has its office, Aronsohn Management provides contract administration for this project.
The first nine floors are converted into a hotel for the Irish PREM Group. The hotel consists of 104 apartments for extended stay, under the name ‘ Premier Suites ‘. This is a new concept for Rotterdam. On the ground floor the lobby consists of a coffee lounge for both residents and office users and a fitness centre. The 10th till the 16th floor remains offices and are fully refurbished. These can be rented out in units of at least approximately 300m2 LFA. The installations for the whole building is replaced so that the building meets the requirements of the current time and the energy consumption is strongly reduced.
The plinth course of the building is completely revised and provided with new facades, decorated in style of the adjacent new building FIRST Rotterdam, designed by Architekten Cie. For the underlying areas plans are made for independent retail, catering and/or office equipment. Worthy of mention is also the profound structural procedure in which 2 columns in the façade on the ground floor, which bears a large part of the building weight, is replaced by one central column.
