At the edge of the campus of the University of Utrecht is located the former Robert J. Van de Graaff laboratory. Where previous tests took place with a particle accelerator, will soon be located the Earth Simulation Laboratory (ESL)
of the Faculty of Geosciences. ABT, Barcode Architects, Aronsohn Management and the Utrecht University are working on the renovation, aiming for BREEAM certificate 'excellent'.

The current building is located at De Uithof and will be transformed into the Earth Simulation Lab (ESL) in the coming years. The ambition is to realize a top research facility in the field of ​​earth sciences with state of the art amenities.

For the redevelopment of the Van der Graaff Laboratory the formulated ambition is to achieve a functional, flexible, durable and efficient building with a new identity for a minimum service life of 15 years.

Aronsohn Management is responsible for the contract administration of the project.
