KAAN Architects made the design for the renovation, respecting the qualities of the original building and using the latest techniques to meet current requirements. This resulted in a contemporary and sustainable office building. The surrounding (parking) site has also been redesigned and given a greener character.

Maarsen Groep has a BREEAM-excellent ambition in the field of sustainability. The installations are laid out flexibly so that adjustments can easily be made in the future.

The existing building has been stripped down to the shell. Only the floors, columns and core remained intact. All other elements were completely replaced. The building was given a new facade and all installations were completely renovated. The building was also (limited) expanded for representative office and consultation functions.

Aronsohn Management was commissioned by the Maarsen Group to provide project management, architectural management and structural supervision.

De Walvis building was completed on 1 May 2020.
