Soon the largest educational and cultural complex of the Netherlands will be realized in the center of The Hague. In this complex (in plan approximately 70 meters by 125 meters, height 40 meters) the Dutch Dance Theatre,
the Residential Orchestra, Dance and Music and the Royal Conservatory will all be housed. These functions should include rooms with large column-free spans.

The building has a compact shape which leads to a variety of functions that are projected one above the other. The strict requirements for acoustic questions leads to a heavy construction and mutual decoupling of several structures, allowing various components within the building having their own structure which are not supported by the lower building volumes.

The new building structure will be realized from the existing basements of the Spui parking and the parking under the former Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, and is a mix of concrete and steel structures.

Underneath the building also runs the underground entrance to the parking of the city hall, which also must continue to operate during the construction.
