Breeam Excellent certificate of completion Deventer

On September 27 the new City Hall of Deventer received the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certificate for the sustainability performance of the building. The City Hall is currently among the top-3 of the most sustainable government buildings in The Netherlands. The BREEAM certification mark was awarded in the City Hall during a sustainability symposium by the Dutch Green Building Council – the organization that develops and manages the label.

BREEAM focuses not only on the energy consumption of buildings, but on different sustainability themes: management, health, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use & ecology and pollution. The City Hall had already been awarded the seal after the design phase. It is now final with the completion of the building.

The City Hall scored particularly well on the innovative way in which the building is cooled with water and heated IJssel water, the light, the reuse of rainwater and the space that the building offers urban wildlife (birds’ nests and hives).

Aronsohn provided the complete structural design of the City Hall, as well as detail drawings and the detailed calculations.
